Important reminders and updates:

  • New Spelling List (math words - angles & triangles) => scroll down to see it.
  • Spelling Test this Friday, January 21st.
  • Math assessment on the basic 4 operations (We do this assessment every 3 weeks) on Thursday, January 20th.
  • Wellness Cycle: Starting today, we are starting to measure and observe the impact of our Health and Wellness activities.

Wellness & Health/ Life Skills Updates:

Our school's School Development Plan aims to increase student wellness and mental health.
We are doing CALM & mindfulness practice almost daily after lunch. In addition I am increasing the amount of sharing & appreciation circles. These practises incorporate land-based Indigenous learning activities and help students make deeper connections with the land, as well as form positive relationships among each other. Later this week, students will fill out a survey to measure how the perceive our school's wellness efforts.

Math:
As you can see from our spelling list, we are diving into the world of angles and triangles.
This week students will be learning how to measure angles in degrees by using a protractor and how to
name the differently sized angles and triangles.

We are also reviewing basic computation skills to prepare them for the Math assessment on Thursday.

Examples:              63.75 / 5

                                7.8 + 11.03 + 2.56

                              45.2 x 7

                              34.85 - 17.9

LA/Spelling:

As always, I have sent home a copy of the list with each student for practise purposes.

On my next blog, I will update you on our current learning in science (sky science) & social studies (local government / city-planning).
