Dear Parents & Guardians,


This is going to be a busy week for our grade 6 students. Hence the long list of due dates and events:


1) Pillars of Care Assembly hosted by us on Friday. 

I will announce our winners by Wednesday or Thursday.

2) Math computation test part 2 on Wednesday.

Our class did an amazing job in our 15 question quiz. Students scored a class total of 12 out of 15 correct answers (80%). I am extremely proud of my students and the hard work they have been showing to build this competency. We will however have to do another one this week to make up for the lost time due to the extended Winter Break. 

3) Social Studies:

Our current city model and writing project will be due this Friday.

Students are in the role of the local government and are creating a city that has many services for its citizens. This week the drawing part must be completed and also each service needs a description.

Police Station:

We have a police station in our city to keep everyone safe.

The police department of Mullerville takes care of crime and ensures that people follow the rules.

For example, they control the speed limit on the roads.

Courthouse:

Here, a judge makes sure that criminals get punished for their crimes.

If they get in trouble with the law they will send thieves and other law-breaking citizens to the Ward

4 prison. Trials are held monthly and honest and hard-working citizens are called to be part of the jury.


Recycling Station & Bottle Depot

The Mullerville Bottle Depot and Recycling Station takes care of some of the garbage produced

by our citizens. Here people can hand in their empty bottles, empty propane gas tanks,

paint cans and used batteries so that our city does not get polluted by garbage.

Lastly, this week is the CBE literacy week. Our class will be looking at incorporating some of the activities into our daily practice.

  Dear Parent & Guardians, Today I will just send out a few reminders and some information about the Food Drive that our school is participating in. 1) Spelling Test on Math words tomorrow, Friday December 3rd. 2) Last day to work on the science project in class is tomorrow as well. 3) Tomorrow - Science Quiz on Trees and Forests (20 Questions) to cover some of the parts of the unit the current project does not cover Our School is accepting food donations (non-perishable/ dried or canned) for the Mayor's Food Drive. If you go shopping and see a deal on any items fitting the category it is greatly appreciated if you sent  them our way.  If every student only brings 1 can we will gather over 400 cans in total for Calgarians in  need.

 Dear Parents & Guardians, In weeks with 4 school days, I will update my blog at least twice.  On weeks with 5 school days there will be a minimum of three blog messages. In class, we are continuing our work around our school's Five Pillars of Care. Care for Self Care for Others Care for Place Care for Learning 5th Pillar (This month's theme is Respect). In groups, students have brainstormed examples for each of the Traits and created a Pillar for our DL -Board outside the classroom. This work is part of the Health and Life Skills curriculum. Each month students demonstrating the values will receive an award at our school assembly. For now,  these assemblies continue to be virtual only. In math, students wrote a short 30 questions math test named the MIPI. This test will determine their entry level of understanding for grade six.
