Dear Parents & Guardians,

This Thursday afternoon and Friday morning you have the opportunity to book an appointment with me

to discuss your child's learning. Our conferences can be booked via your MyCBE/Powerschool account.

Thanks to all of you who have done so already. 


Important updates and reminders:

1) Parent-Teacher Conferences Thursday (15:30-7:30 pm) and Friday (8:00 to 12:00).

2) Math Computation Quiz on long division & multiplication (this Wednesday or Thursday)

This assessment is repeated every three weeks with varying numbers and also includes decimal and whole number addition and subtraction. I track each student's progress throughout the semester. Additionally, it functions as revision due to the spaced practice.

3. On Thursday our class will be attending some of the online courses and lectures from the City of Calgary Safety Expo. Hopefully this year will be that last year that we have to do it virtually instead of paying a visit to our Town Hall. This event is hosted annually by our city.


4. Later this week, students will present their sky science slide shows to their peers. Next week we will have the final assessment in form of a multiple choice quiz. This test will measure their understanding and ability to analyze graphs, diagrams and statistics related to space and celestial bodies and their movement.

  Dear Parent & Guardians, Today I will just send out a few reminders and some information about the Food Drive that our school is participating in. 1) Spelling Test on Math words tomorrow, Friday December 3rd. 2) Last day to work on the science project in class is tomorrow as well. 3) Tomorrow - Science Quiz on Trees and Forests (20 Questions) to cover some of the parts of the unit the current project does not cover Our School is accepting food donations (non-perishable/ dried or canned) for the Mayor's Food Drive. If you go shopping and see a deal on any items fitting the category it is greatly appreciated if you sent  them our way.  If every student only brings 1 can we will gather over 400 cans in total for Calgarians in  need.

 Dear Parents & Guardians, In weeks with 4 school days, I will update my blog at least twice.  On weeks with 5 school days there will be a minimum of three blog messages. In class, we are continuing our work around our school's Five Pillars of Care. Care for Self Care for Others Care for Place Care for Learning 5th Pillar (This month's theme is Respect). In groups, students have brainstormed examples for each of the Traits and created a Pillar for our DL -Board outside the classroom. This work is part of the Health and Life Skills curriculum. Each month students demonstrating the values will receive an award at our school assembly. For now,  these assemblies continue to be virtual only. In math, students wrote a short 30 questions math test named the MIPI. This test will determine their entry level of understanding for grade six.
