Dear Parents & Guardians,

Tomorrow is our last day before March Break. School resumes on Monday, March 28th.

We are having a Spirit Day - Twin Day - Dress up in pairs.

We are also having our Pillars of the Month Assembly tomorrow.

Below are our winners in the 5 Categories.

Since this month's theme was Truth - represented by the Turtle in the the Seven Sacred Teachings - we

learnt about Turtle Island and reflected on the importance of truth in our own actions, words and life.

Tests are being sent home for review:

  • Math Test on Transformation is being sent home today
  • Science Quiz on Sky Science / Solar System is being sent home today as well => see below for the answer key

Sky Science Answer Key:

This time we familiarized students with a Scantron-style bubble sheet which will be used in the PATs.
The quiz was entirely composed of old PAT questions that were released by Alberta Education for practice purposes. Our goal is to familiarize students with the test format and questions.
Reading each question thoroughly and ruling out wrong answers is key. Overall Room 15 students achieved a class average of 66.3%. This means that as a whole we have more than an adequate/ basic understanding and are approaching a proficient understanding (Level 3 in the CBE = 65-84%).

Here are our Pillar Winners for the Month of March!
Congratulations to all of them! There will be 15 more chances to earn awards for those who are still waiting

Care for Others: Kirill has shown Care for Others by stepping up for a younger student in grade three.

While he was in the bathroom he overheard some boys fighting and helped by putting an end to the

argument and bringing the grade 3 boy back to his classroom.

He was nominated by Mrs. Anderson for his actions. Well done!

Care for Learning: Vincent - This young man is a hard-working student who always tries his best

in every task. He worked really well on his science project on space and got great marks in Math despite the computation tests getting harder. Keep up the good work, Vincent!

Care for Place: Leah - This month's Care for Place winner is Leah. She always keeps her desk

area clean and brings back learning materials from the classroom’s group desk.

Care for Self: Maaha - Maaha deserves this award because she demonstrated Care or Self

by catching up on her learning after having missed a few days of classes last month.

For instance, she completed her Black History Month project and gave a great presentation to the class. Mahaa also improved her computation quiz scores and put care into her stories.

Pillar of the Month: Ayden - Ayden deserves the Truth Award as he always owns up to his actions and admits his mistakes. This has helped him in improving his relationship with his classmates. Did I mention that he did a fantastic job peer-editing stories for others and giving them good feedback?
