Dear Parents & Guardians,
As mentioned last week, April-May-June is a busy time and this week's tasks, assessments and activities reflect that.
1) Social Studies assessments on Provincial Government this Friday, April 8th.
2) New Spelling words - based on key concepts of the social unit provincial government (Test on Friday, as well). Knowing the meaning of these words is key to be successful in the unit test.
3) Basic Computation 15 Questions assessment tomorrow, April 5th.
4) Integer Check-In - After teaching this concept for 7 days, our grade 6 team has decided to put student's knowledge through an easy test (on Thursday, April 7th).
Art-Update
Artist in Residence - We were fortunate to work with our artist in residence, Dean Stanton, today on a great Pop Art project. Each students has created their own square tile with colourful images, patterns which will be put together similar to a collage and assembled into a whole school piece.
Math assessments
We do the basic computation assessment every 3 weeks and opted to spare the class last week to allow for some more practice time during morning math. Questions involve as usual decimal and whole number computation problems as shown below.
685 x 9 45.2 - 16.7 7.81 + 0.3 + 6.298
93.5 / 5 26 x 38 30.00 - 17.65
Stay tuned for an update on integers before the assessment on Thursday!
