WELCOME BACK STUDENTS & PARENTS/GUARDIANS

First Day of School: Wednesday, September 1st at 8:05am on the West Compound near the playground stairs.

The following information below was also send to you by email!

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Hello! It is Mr. Mueller writing to you right from Beddington Heights School. Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year. It is my pleasure to teach your child in Grade 6 this year. Your child’s classroom is Room 15 (upstairs, overlooking the baseball ball field and West compound).

This year, we have moved back to single grade configurations in classrooms, which means your child will be in a straight Grade 6 class this year. There have been several measures taken at school to ensure the safety of students.

Our class will be meeting at the back of the school, near the grade 5/6 entrance (bottom of the playground stairs) on Wednesday morning. We will enter the school at 8:05 am, and will be dismissed at 2:40 in the afternoon, in order to limit the number of students using doors and stairways at the same time.

We are again asking parents to drop their students off no more than 5 min. before our entry time. When you arrive to drop your child off, or pick them up, we ask that you remain outside of the schoolyard, sending your child to find their class in their designated location to practise social distancing. Please ensure that your children know where to find you in case you are picking them up after school. Unlike previous years, students will not be permitted to use the playground equipment before or after school this year, and supervision will not be provided. We ask that you please remind students of the expectation to proceed directly to their meeting place in the morning.

Each class will have a morning and an afternoon recess break this year. These will be staggered breaks during which students will only interact with their own cohort class. Our lunch times will also be staggered, with our class eating lunch in our classroom from 12:30 – 1:00pm. Your child should also bring a snack to be eaten in the morning.

In addition to a lunch and snack, students should bring a water bottle and indoor running shoes. Bringing a pencil case is also recommended to keep their desk trays organized. All other school materials (pencils, erasers, rulers, scissors, exercise books etc. are provided by the CBE). Our classroom can be cool at times, so having a spare sweater or hoodie to put on is recommended.

All students will be required to wear a mask while at school, and having a spare mask in case theirs becomes damaged or dirty is also recommended. We continue to sanitize / wash hands and desks often and frequently, especially before and after snack / recess and when entering the building I look forward to working with you to ensure the safety and success of all students.

Also, I am looking forward to seeing you all at ‘Meet the Teacher Night’ on September 23rd, and to getting to know your child.

Feel free to contact me anytime with questions or if you wish to let me know anything specific about your child. Also, I recommend to check my teacher blog on a regular basis.
