Dear Parents & Guardians, Next week will be a 5-day week finally.   Today we completed our Walk for Chanie Wenjack. In total our Room 15 students walked 218 km in 3 gym classes and one extended recess. In a math lesson we then calculated and recorded our data.  Lastly, students created a bar graph including total and average distance walked.  In LA, we had reflection questions about Mind, Spirit,Heart & Body related to the experiences at Residential School.  Students are in the process of creating a medicine wheel including their personal responses to the questions.
Dear Parents & Guardians, This week I am taking the class outside to participate in the Walk for Chanie Wenjack. Chanie Wenjack was a young boy who ran away from residential school in Northern Ontario. This is part of our Indigenous Learning with ties in to Math and LA. We are recording our distance each  day and will multiply it by the number of student walkers. We will also reflect on a specific question  during and after the walk. Today's question was about the practices at residential school. By the end of the  week students will create a bar graph showing the partial and total distance of the walk. Our Learning in the 4 Core Subject Areas today: Math: Rounding review on decimal and whole numbers. Social Studies: Students provided examples of equity and equality. => This will be part 2 of their social studies skit mar.
