  • Spelling Test on Social Words this Friday
  • Social Studies Assessment on Decision-Making this Friday

  • Pillars of Care Assembly hosted by our room

We have started our poetry project today.  Ask your children which types of poems they are planning on including in their presentation/ project. 

Here is a quick overview of sample poems we learnt about in class:

  • Ryhming Couplet
  • Tercet
  • Quatrain
  • Limerick
  • Cinquain
  • Diamante
  • Haiku 
  • Senryu
  • Concrete/shape Poem
  • Acrostic 
  • Bio Poem
  • Ballad (We learnt this one today in class)

Blue poems must rhyme.
Green poems count syllables or words.


Example of a Limerick:

There once was a very big star
Who did't know where we are
He shone very bright
And casted his light
But he was away way too far.



In social studies, we reviewed the different ways to make decisions. 

VOTING - CONSESUS - REPRESENTATION.

This will be part of the test on Friday.

  Dear Parent & Guardians, Today I will just send out a few reminders and some information about the Food Drive that our school is participating in. 1) Spelling Test on Math words tomorrow, Friday December 3rd. 2) Last day to work on the science project in class is tomorrow as well. 3) Tomorrow - Science Quiz on Trees and Forests (20 Questions) to cover some of the parts of the unit the current project does not cover Our School is accepting food donations (non-perishable/ dried or canned) for the Mayor's Food Drive. If you go shopping and see a deal on any items fitting the category it is greatly appreciated if you sent  them our way.  If every student only brings 1 can we will gather over 400 cans in total for Calgarians in  need.

Parent-Teacher Conferences this Thursday and Friday (morning) 4. No school for students on Friday 5. Jump-Rope-For-Heart Fundraiser Information 6. Updates on the story writing unit. (scroll down) As you know, we are having Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday. Please book an appointment time if you wish to receive an update on your child's learning. In class, we have started to revisit our IRIS goals which each student set in November. Students will be sharing them with you during the interview. Tomorrow and on Thursday we will reflect on these goals and see if we have progressed/ achieved them. Also, our school is once again participating in the Jump Rope For Heart fundraiser.
