Dear Parents & Guardians,

I am writing to let you know about a number of important pieces of information at this time of the year.

  • LA Poetry Project Homework

Today was the last time students had a chance to work on their poems and illustrations for this 2-week LA project. So far only ¼ of students have handed in. Please check-in with your son/daughter and set some time aside to complete it at home. For the most part it is now compiling the booklet and creating illustrations for an Art mark. I have printed the poems for almost all students yesterday and today in class.

The project is due on Monday Nov. 15th.

  • Parent-Teacher Conferences

In less than 2 weeks, I am hopeful to meet with all of you during our first round of Student-teacher conferences. They will take place November 25th and 26th.You should receive an email from our school to remind you to book them via CBE My Power School (link below) shortly. Parents that did not have an account yet should have received a letter from our school last week with instructions. You will need your child's CBE student number. Your acocunt lets you book conferences and next year also see grades.

  • Learning Goals

As CBE we are focusing on our students becoming independent and critical thinkers.

Next week your child will be setting personal learning goals and strategies (e.g. a plan on how to achieve them) in LA, Math and Health. These goals will be shared with you during the conferences.

  • Starting Monday, our class will be welcoming our student teacher Ms. Paul from the University of Lethbridge. She will be teaching up to 1/3 of the instructional time in her 5- week practicum.

  Dear Parent & Guardians, Today I will just send out a few reminders and some information about the Food Drive that our school is participating in. 1) Spelling Test on Math words tomorrow, Friday December 3rd. 2) Last day to work on the science project in class is tomorrow as well. 3) Tomorrow - Science Quiz on Trees and Forests (20 Questions) to cover some of the parts of the unit the current project does not cover Our School is accepting food donations (non-perishable/ dried or canned) for the Mayor's Food Drive. If you go shopping and see a deal on any items fitting the category it is greatly appreciated if you sent  them our way.  If every student only brings 1 can we will gather over 400 cans in total for Calgarians in  need.

  Dear Parents & Guardians, Updates and reminders: 1. Basic Computation Quiz tomorrow (every three weeks) 2. Science Presentations will be starting 3. Parent-Teacher Conferences this Thursday and Friday (morning) 4. No school for students on Friday 5. Jump-Rope-For-Heart Fundraiser Information 6. Updates on the story writing unit. In class, we have started to revisit our IRIS goals which each student set in November. Students will be sharing them with you during the interview. Tomorrow and on Thursday we will reflect on these goals and see if we have progressed/ achieved them. Also, our school is once again participating in the Jump Rope For Heart fundraiser.
