Dear Parents & Guardians,

Winter Jackets:

Our school is teaming up once more with the Jacket Racket. Should you require a new warm winter jacket for your child, please email me or call our school with the  required size. We will then pass on this information to this amazing organization. The deadline to submit the form for us is on November 26th. 

Math:

This week is the Mathletics Numeracy Challenge. Please help us out and remind your child to access their account from home and work on some of the tasks I assigned them. In class students usually are provided with 2-3 times of 20 min work time per week. 

I have also assigned some of the new unit tasks related to "Measurement."

LA/ Social Studies:

As promised here are this week's spelling word lists. 

For equity purposes there is a regular grade 6 and and adapted version (ADP) with a focus on the 

"ie" spelling in common words.

The spelling test will be this Friday. Our words align with the current social studies unit - Local Government. Each student has received their list and is encouraged to take it home for practise. In class students are writing sentences / definitions using the words and are learning their meaning.

  Dear Parent & Guardians, Today I will just send out a few reminders and some information about the Food Drive that our school is participating in. 1) Spelling Test on Math words tomorrow, Friday December 3rd. 2) Last day to work on the science project in class is tomorrow as well. 3) Tomorrow - Science Quiz on Trees and Forests (20 Questions) to cover some of the parts of the unit the current project does not cover Our School is accepting food donations (non-perishable/ dried or canned) for the Mayor's Food Drive. If you go shopping and see a deal on any items fitting the category it is greatly appreciated if you sent  them our way.  If every student only brings 1 can we will gather over 400 cans in total for Calgarians in  need.

Parent-Teacher Conferences this Thursday and Friday (morning) 4. No school for students on Friday 5. Jump-Rope-For-Heart Fundraiser Information 6. Updates on the story writing unit. (scroll down) As you know, we are having Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday. Please book an appointment time if you wish to receive an update on your child's learning. In class, we have started to revisit our IRIS goals which each student set in November. Students will be sharing them with you during the interview. Tomorrow and on Thursday we will reflect on these goals and see if we have progressed/ achieved them. Also, our school is once again participating in the Jump Rope For Heart fundraiser.
