Hence I want to provide you with a quick overview of the learning in class.


  • Math Integer quiz tomorrow (Thursday)

On this quiz students will solve integer and negative number problems in which they have to.
a) sort integers and negative/positive numbers from greatest to least or vice versa and place them on number lines.


-31.5,   -29,  - 7,   -0.08,   0 ,   2.43,  6.5,  15 ,   89


b) compare integers and negative/positive numbers   


   -81 > -82       0.5 < 0.51         -129.2    < 128.2

c) Solve number and word problems involving integers 


Examples:

-6 +- 7        -13 -- 41          931 - +56        72 + - 238  


Word Problems:

Basic:

Eric has $789 in his bank account. He withdraws $900 to buy a new bike. How much is he going into overdraft? 


Advanced:

A flying fish swims 13 m below the surface of the sea. The fish jumps out of the water and reaches a height of 9 m.  After diving back  into the water he swims at a depth of 54 m. What is the total vertical distance traveled by the fish?
