Dear Parents & Guardians,

Important update & reminders:

1) No school on Friday and Monday due to the short Easter  Break & Teacher PD-Day.

2) For the Grade 6 graduation, we would love to include your child's baby photo into our slideshow.

If you wish, please email me one picture of your child during their early days. We will then contrast their past and present appearance during the graduation assembly. Please state the name of the child and the approximate age at that time.

Social Studies:

Today we learnt about the essential rights outlined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

In the next week, we will discuss, analyze and evaluate their importance for us and look at their historic development.

Art:

In class, we created a blended day & or night sky using oil pastels & wax crayons.

In a second step students enhanced their art with silhouettes.

Tomorrow students are going to describe and self-critique their art, as well as chose an appropriate title

& comment positively on the art of others.

Science:

Tomorrow, I will be sending home the Air / Properties of Air Quiz.  Overall the class did really well and has a solid understanding of the concepts. This means that we can now move on to objects traveling through air, which is the 2nd part of this unit (Aerodynamics & Flight).

Today in class students started some independent research on the 4 Forces involved in flight?

The inquiry questions are:

  1. What are the four forces involved in flight?
  2. In which direction do they act on an object (e.g. arrow/ plane/ bird/ frisbee) in flight?
  3. Is the force helpful for or does it hinder flight?
  4. What creates each force? How does the force interact with the air & object?

Research & draw a schematic of an object and how the forces act upon it?
