Good afternoon grade six families,


Tomorrow is our first grade 6 provincial achievement test (LA PAT exam part A). 

The exam consists of two parts:

a)  writing a news article based off a research sheet and

b) writing a narrative/ story based off a picture prompt.


In class, we have written many stories and news reports in the past weeks & months to prepare for the exam. I have made another study sheet for students who want to review the tasks. The focus for grading the exam is on story/news organization, connecting events logically, using proper and varied syntax, descriptive and specific vocabulary, as well as demonstrating good control over writing conventions (spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization).


Please have your child arrive on time at school tomorrow.

The exam starts at 9:00 am. 

We will read through it together then students get 15 minutes to plan with their friends. 

Students  have up to four hours to write the exam if they need it. 



A big shout out to our amazing Parent Council!

They will provide healthy snacks for all students. 


Tonight please have some family quality time, relax, read a story, have a big dinner, go to bed early and have breakfast.

  Dear Parent & Guardians, Today I will just send out a few reminders and some information about the Food Drive that our school is participating in. 1) Spelling Test on Math words tomorrow, Friday December 3rd. 2) Last day to work on the science project in class is tomorrow as well. 3) Tomorrow - Science Quiz on Trees and Forests (20 Questions) to cover some of the parts of the unit the current project does not cover Our School is accepting food donations (non-perishable/ dried or canned) for the Mayor's Food Drive. If you go shopping and see a deal on any items fitting the category it is greatly appreciated if you sent  them our way.  If every student only brings 1 can we will gather over 400 cans in total for Calgarians in  need.
