Good afternoon grade six families, Tomorrow is our first grade 6 provincial achievement test (LA PAT exam part A).  The exam consists of two parts: a)  writing a news article based off a research sheet and b) writing a narrative/ story based off a picture prompt. In class, we have written many stories and news reports in the past weeks & months to prepare for the exam. I have made another study sheet for students who want to review the tasks. The focus for grading the exam is on story/news organization, connecting events logically, using proper and varied syntax, descriptive and specific vocabulary, as well as demonstrating good control over writing conventions (spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization). Please have your child arrive on time at school tomorrow. The exam starts at 9:00 am.  We will read through it together then students get 15 minutes to plan with their friends.  Students  have up to four hours to write the exam if they need it....
